MORECAMBE 2-1 BARNSLEY
14th July 2007 - Pre Season Friendly
The Shrimps pre season campaign got off to an excellent start with a 2-1 victory over Championship side Barnsley at Christie Park.

Sammy McIlroy left out new signings Matthew Blinkhorn and David Artell from the squad along with Michael Twiss and Garry Thompson but Carl Baker pulled on a Morecambe shirt for the first time.
Trialist Craig Wight started in goal and Fraser McLachlan was back in the fold for the first time since January.
Wayne Curtis put Morecambe ahead after just seven minutes as he ran onto a David McNiven pass before calmly slotting the ball into the back of the net.
With the score 1-0 to Morecambe at half time Sammy McIlroy made a number of substitutions which saw Neil Sorvel, Craig Stanley, Keiran Walmsley and trialist Jon Newby replace Garry Hunter, Fraser McLachlan, Carl Baker and Wayne Curtis.
Barnsley pulled level on 63 minutes when Kayodi Odejayi headed home Dominic Werling's cross but with quarter of an hour left Jon Newby scored the winner for Morecambe when his shot hit the post and then rolled over the line having rebounded off the back of Barnsley goalkeeper Kyle Letheren.
