MORECAMBE 3-0 GREENOCK MORTON
21st July 2007 - Pre Season Friendly
Morecambe's pre season continued with a 3-0 win over Greenock Morton at Christie Park.
Sammy McIlroy's team went ahead on 19 minutes through a Carl Baker penalty. Michael Twiss was brought down inside the area allowing Baker to step up and score his first goal in Morecambe colours since moving from Southport in the Summer.
The lead was doubled twenty minutes into the second half when Wayne Curtis' powerful shot was parried by the Greenock Morton goalkeeper into the path of Garry Hunter who slotted the ball into the back of the net from close range.
The win was sealed two minutes from the end when David McNiven played a neat ball into the penalty area for Jon Newby who produced an excellent finish to score his second goal of pre season.
