MORECAMBE produced a thrilling win to move a step closer to securing a League 2 play-off spot.
Two goals from defender Dave Artell gave the Shrimps a win that took them up to sixth in the table with one game to go.
Artell had a memorable afternoon against his former club as he also conceded a last minute penalty which saw home midfielder Kevin McIntyre crash against the crossbar before Barry Roche produced a stunning save to block the follow up from Kelvin Langmead.
The Shrimps had a dream start when they were 2-0 up after just 15 minutes. With the home defence all at sea the Shrimps took full advantage with Mark Duffy firing them into a seventh minute lead with a right foot shot that beat Chris Neal low to his right.
Seven minutes later it was 2-0 as Artell headed a pinpoint Craig Stanley free kick past Neal from six yards out.
Artell went close again moments later from another Stanley fee kick as the visitors controlled the game.
Shrewsbury hit back just after the half hour as an early substitution paid dividends with Ben Van Den Broeke breaking through and slotting the ball past Roche.
The Morecambe keeper was then his side's hero with two great saves before the Shrews equalised just after the break when Tom Bradshaw turned Artell and slotted the ball past Roche.
The game then swung from end to end but it was Morecambe who struck again as Artell got on the end of another superb Stanley free kick to beat Neal for a second time.
Shrewsbury threw everything forward and went close through Bradshaw before they were handed a lifeline with a controversial late penalty which McIntyre failed to convert.
