MORECAMBE squandered a 2-1 lead to suffer their second league defeat of the new season.
Burton took the lead with less than a minute on the clock. Andy Corbett crossed from the right and veteran Aaron Webster had a free header at the far post and directed his effort into the top left hand corner of the Morecambe goal.
But the Shrimps were soon back in the game as Andy Fleming scored his third goal in as many games on nine minutes. Darren Moss worked an opening down the right hand side and his excellent cross fell perfectly for Fleming who volleyed home from six yards out.
Fleming then had a chance to give the Shrimps the lead but saw his header well saved by Adam Legzdins.
Burton then had a good chance of their own when Shaun Harrad ran on to a through ball and forced Barry Roche into an excellent stop.
Harrad then had two golden chances to give his side the lead close to half time but on both occasions he was denied by the legs of the Morecambe keeper.
Morecambe bagen the second half on the front foot with Fleming testing Legzdins before scoring his second of the game. Phil Jevons saw his original shot hit the post and the ball feell for Chris Shuker whose fed Fleming for a close range tap in.
Craig Stanley then went close with a well struck effort from the edge of the area beofre Burton hit back strongly.
Webster levelled the scores on 76 minutes when he turned the loose ball home from close range after the Morecambe defence failed to clear a corner.
Four minutes later Burton made it 3-2 when Greg Pearson was brought down in the box by Paul Scott and the same player stepped up to send Roche the wrong way from the spot.
Stewart Drumond had an injury time shot superbly saved by Legzdins but Morecambe could not fins a leveller.
