MORECAMBE'S unbeaten away run came to an end at the Greenhous Meadow.
Goals in either half from Nicky Wroe and Mark Wright saw Jim Bentley's side suffer their first defeat in 10 league games away from the Globe Arena.
The game swung from end to end before Morecambe went a goal down via a penalty on 39 minutes. Aaron Wildig crossed from the right and the ball struck Nick Fenton on the arm giving Wroe the chance to blast the spot kick high into the right hand corner of Barry Roche's goal.
The second goal came two minutes from the end as Morecambe were caught out as they pushed bodies forward in search of an equaliser which they almost got in the 87th minute when a Chris McCready header was cleared off the line by Matt Richards.
From there Shrewsbury countered and Marvin Morgan produced the perfect cross for Wright to head past Roche from close range.
Morecambe started sharply with Phil Jevons wasting a great chance in only the sixth minute.Shrewsbury defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff headed an Izak Reid cross into his path but he could only volley wide from six yards.
From there both sides played some neat football without really threatening in the first half.
Shrews' striker Terry Gornell fired over at the near post after a neat turn in the box and at the other end Andy Fleming headed a Kevin Ellison cross inches wide at the far post on the stroke of half time.
The second half saw Morecambe have the majority of the possession and went close when Izak Reid forced Chris Neal into a decent save on the hour and both Kevin Ellison and Gary McDonald went close.
But the Shrimps failed to score for only the second time this season and Shrewsbury took the points.
