The Shrimps suffered another defeat as they went down to Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.

A late flurry from Jim Bentley's side was unfortunately not enough to get them back into the game after they fell 2-0 down in the second half.

Lee Brown gave Rovers the lead on 58 minutes with a close range tap in after Chris Kettings had saved Scott McGleish's near poist header.

On 74 minutes it was 2-0 when McGleish was gifted a penalty after Danny Carlton held Matthew Lund's shirt in the box and the veteran striker made no mistake.

Morecambe then hit back with Kevin Ellison scoring two minutes from time after debutant Jordan Burrow saw a volley well saved by Michael Poke. Ellison was then denied a second by a superb Poke save in injury time as Burrow again caused problems.

Morecambe had their chances in the first half with Phil Jevons hitting the woodwork on 29 minutes after being found superbly by Stewart Drummond. Jevons beat keeper Michael Poke to the loose ball but saw his final effort rebound off the left hand post. A few moments later Jason Price saw a near post header cleared off the line by Cian Bolger when the effort looked destined for the top right hand corner.

After a sluggish start the home side came into the game with Scott McGleish seeing a header tipped on to the post superbly by debutant Chris Kettings before Matt Gill missed the best chance of the first half in injury time when he sidefooted wide from the edge of the box with an open goal ahead of him.

Morecambe boss Jim Bentkey is without goalkeeper Barry Roche for the trip to the Memorial Stadium.

Roche misses out with a neck injury which means new loan signing Chris Kettings will come into the side for his debut. The youngster, who joined recently from Blackpool will start with goalkeeping coach Lee Jones on the bench.
