TWO goals from Padraig Amond and one from the excellent Jack Redshaw saw the Shrimps move into the second round of the JPT Trophy.
Jim Bentley's side showed great spirit and determination to come from behind after Fleetwood took the lead in the 11th minute through Gareth Evans.
Morecambe hit back and were denied a clear penalty when Jack Redshaw was brought down by Chris Maxwell but the referee, the surprise of almost everyone in the Highbury Stadium, booked the Morecambe striker for a dive.
The home side almost added insult to injury when they went close to adding a second nine minutes later when Blair got the better of Shaun Beeley at the far post and curled a delightful effort goalwards only to be denied by the crossbar.
Fleetwood were dominant at this stage but were undone by a Morecambe leveller on 28 minutes. Stewart Drummond sliced the Fleetwood defence in half with a ball through the middle which was met by Padraig Amond who finished smartly past the stranded Maxwell.
The goal gave Morecambe a lift with Redshaw forcing Maxwell into an excellent save low to his left after cutting inside and drilling a low shot that was destined for the bottom left hand corner.
The Shrimps maintained the pressure and were rewarded with a second goal on 34 minutes. Jack Sampson did well to find space down the left hand side and produced a fine cross for Redhsaw to turn the ball past Maxwell from close range.
Fleetwood dominated the possession in the second half but failed to test the Morecambe goal and it was Morecambe who scored the next goal when Amond made it 3-1 eight minutes from time when he tapped in from close range after Maxwell had saved Sampson’s close range effort.
