Dagenham & Redbridge vs Morecambe

7 November 2015

Dagenham 0-0 Morecambe

THE SHRIMPS will have to do battle with Dagenham for a second time after this drab FA Cup first round clash ended all square.

In a low key game of low quality both sides struggled to create any chances of note.

Morecambe started brightly with Shaun Miller playing in Aaron Wildig down the left hand side but his shot was easily gathered by home keeper Mark Cousins.

Dagenham's first effort of note came when an Andy Parrish mistake left the Shrimps exposed but Barry Roche read the danger well and raced from his goal to save at the feet of Jamie Cureton.

Roche then reacted sharply to save smartly from Jake Mulraney's well struck shot from the right hand side of the area on a rare Daggers' break.

Morecambe raised their game at the start of the second half with Alan Goodall fizzing a shot inches over the bar from the left hand side.

On the hour Tom Barkhuizen forced home keeper Cousins into his best save of the game with a near post volley from Jamie Devitt's corner and from the next set piece Alex Kenyon volleyed over from another Devitt set piece.

Substitute Lee Molyneux then tested Cousins again from long range with a shot that the keeper held at the second attempt as the Shrimps enjoyed their best spell of the game.

Dagenham hit back briefly with Justin Hoyte working an opening for himself with a nest one-two on the edge of the box before letting fly with an effort that Roche did well to tip away.

As the game entered the final stages Ryan Edwards came within a whisker of converting a Molyneux corner that flew across the Daggers' six yard box but neither side could make the breakthrough and will have to do battle again at the Globe Arena.
