Shrimps duo selected for JPT team of the tournament.
TWO Shrimps' players have been selected in this year's team of the tournament.
As the Johnstone's Paint Trophy reaches its conclusion, the Football League looked back through the 48 matches played up to the final and picked out the tournament's star performers with Barry Roche and Aaron McGowan selected.
The selectors said:
Goalkeeper: Barry Roche (Morecambe)
The 33-year-old veteran had a perfect record during this year's tournament. The stopper kept three consecutive clean sheets in the early rounds against Walsall, Bury and Rochdale but wasn't involved in the Area Semi-Final when Morecambe were defeated 2-0 by Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium.
Defender: Aaron McGowan (Morecambe)
The defender played every minute of Morecambe's first three games when the Shrimps didn't concede a goal. A 2-0 triumph over Walsall was followed up with 1-0 victories over Bury and Rochdale.
McGowan, however, wasn't involved in the Northern Area Semi-Final loss to Fleetwood.
