Bentley Pre-Crawley

23 September 2016

Jim Bentley is hoping his young guns can fire again when they face Crawley at the Globe Arena on Saturday.

After seeing Paul Mullin and Jack Dunn play a vital role in the 2-1 victory at Cambridge on Saturday Bentley is hoping for similar flashes of brilliance from his young players – but warned the Shrimps’ crowd that they would need to play their part in getting behind the team.

Bentley said: “Mullers and Jack showed some great touches last week and inspired us up front and that is what they are capable of.

“But we also know that there are times when they will frustrate us as well and that is when we all need to show them our support. They are not the only two of course as we all know we have a young squad and they will all have their highs and lows.

“We have lost our last two at home and we want to get back to winning ways at the Globe again. It will need us to perform better than we did against Doncaster last time out because we all know that wasn’t good enough but we need to be patient at times and make sure we always show our support to help bring these lads on.’’

Crawley come into the game full of confidence as well after a fine 2-0 win over a strong Luton last week and Bentley knows they will be tough opponents.

He said: “They have a new manager and have made a lot of changes to their squad but there is a lot of pedigree there.

“We all know that in James Collins they have a striker who can cause problems and there are others who we have had good reports about so we will have to be at our best.’’

Alex Whitmore is suspended after his red card against Doncaster but Peter Murphy is pressing for a start after stepping up his comeback in recent weeks and coming off the bench last week.
