Kick It Out

24 March 2017

#CALLFULLTIMEONHATE

THIS weekend will see the club host its annual Kick It Out awareness day.

Starting life as a small independent charity, the ‘Let’s Kick Racism out of Football’ campaign was established in 1993 in response to widespread calls from clubs, players and fans to tackle racist attitudes existing within the game.

More than 20 years later, football is seen as a bastion of hope to eradicate not just racism, but discrimination from society.

Morecambe FC Community Sports fully support the initiative and seek to highlight the positive message of inclusion within the local community. Raising awareness and educating the importance of equality and diversity in football is something the Community Sports team is promoting through community engagement projects, school sessions and contact with grass roots project clubs.

The new Kick It Out app allows users to confidentially report incidents of discrimination seen or heard at a football match this is a big development which offers users the ability to upload evidence in video, photo and audio format.

Recently, Morecambe FC Youth team have partaken in a Kick it out workshop run by Troy Townsend and Paul Mortimer.

These workshops aim to raise awareness on current issues, including discrimination, under representation and stereotypes within the game. The workshops also seek to develop both the life skills of players, and their knowledge and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, as they take their first steps into the professional game.

It only takes minutes to download the app so do it today!

Support your club, community and lets KICK IT OUT TOGETHER #CALLFULLTIMEONHATE.
