Anton Forrester Loan

26 November 2015

Morecambe sign Blackburn Rovers striker Anton Forrester on loan.

THE Shrimps have today signed Blackburn Rovers striker Anton Forrester on loan until January 3.

The 21-year-old joined Rovers from Everton in January 2013 and had a successful end to that campaign with four goals in his 10 appearances for the club’s junior sides which also saw him make his first team debut in the FA Cup quarter-final replay against Millwall.

An excellent first half to the 2013-14 season on loan at Bury saw the then League Two side extend Forrester's deal for the remainder of the campaign, but unfortunately a serious knee ligament injury ended the striker's season prematurely.

After nine months out the striker returned to action in December 2014, scoring two goals against Derby County for Rovers' Under-21s, before being sidelined by another niggling injury.

Shrimps’ boss Jim Bentley said: “I have been looking to freshen up the squad and Anton is someone who comes highly recommended.

“He will give us extra options as we enter a really important phase of the season and we are all really looking forward to working with him.’’
