Morecambe pies honoured at the 2015 British Pie Awards
Morecambe Football Club are delighted to announce that they have again been honoured at the 2015 British Pie Awards, held at the end of April in Melton Mowbray. Head Chef Graham Aimson and his team had multiple entries across various categories winning 3 bronze, 2 silver and 1 gold medal as well as winning the ‘Best Pie in Football’ with his Chicken/Ham/Leek and ‘Best Bramley Apple Pie’ category.
There wasn’t to be the call back for ‘Supreme Champion’ this time around but Head Chef Graham Aimson wasn’t too disappointed in the result commenting; ‘we look to win every category but our bread and butter is the ‘Best Pie in Football’. To win that for the 4th time in 5 years, classed as a small producer, is a fantastic effort by all of my kitchen team. We were also pretty confident with the Bramley Apple Pie that took the ‘Supreme Champion’ last year and that again won its category. When you factor in the medals from the other entries it’s been a very pleasing week’
On hearing the results, MFC Chairman Peter McGuigan commented ‘huge congratulations to Graham, Jackie, Mark, Katie, Ryan and everyone connected with the catering operation at Morecambe Football Club. To maintain the quality year after year to win these awards is great testament to their professionalism. Everyone who visits the Globe Arena knows how good our pies are so for Graham and the team to win so many more accolades again this year is an absolutely superb achievement’
