Chairman and majority shareholder, Peter McGuigan, announced today that Morecambe Football Club is for sale.
In a statement he said, “Having been Chairman for 16 years, I feel the time is right for a new owner to take the Club forward and build on a strong platform that exists today. The Club moved into a new purpose-built wholly owned stadium in August 2010 and is virtually debt free. There is an opportunity to develop the ground further with a new office block, as well as a hotel adjacent to the stadium. These exciting developments will assist in securing the long-term financial viability of the Club.
At present we are looking for expressions of interests from individuals who have the financial ability to take this Club further. We will require a complete open book approach from all concerned to ensure the best for the Club.
