MFC presents Community Sports with donation

The FA has donated £2000 from the Community Shield Fund to Morecambe FC, which the club has donated to Morecambe FC Community Sports.

The Community Shield Fund comes from admission ticket income and sales of match day programmes.  The FA distributes funds amongst clubs; to support community initiatives and local charities.  The remainder of the fund is donated to the FA Charity Partner.  This year the Teenage Cancer Trust was chosen as Charity Partner by the FA Community Shield Distribution Committee and FA Group staff.

Janet Preston, Morecambe FC Community Sports’ Community Manager said, “We are grateful to receive the Community Shield Fund donation from the football club.  This will be used to help continue our gymstars programme, which promotes health, physical fitness, co-ordination and balance for children in Key Stage 1.”

Janet is pictured with Morecambe FC Director and Community Sports trustee Graham Howse, Morecambe supporter George Howse and Morecambe FC Club Secretary Mark Bradley; receiving the cheque before Morecambe’s recent home game against Mansfield Town.
