Fans Drum

26 November 2015

Club position on fans drum in the Omega Stand clarified.

Following a number of questions to Staff and telephone calls to the Club regarding the fans drum, Morecambe Football Club would like to clarify its position. After the Wycombe, Luton and Crawley evening home game this season the Club received a number of emails from local residents, trying to get young children to sleep, complaining about the drum being played late into the evening.

After discussing our options it was decided to approach the young man who brings the drum to firstly explain the situation and to ask whether he would be willing to forego playing the drum at the remaining evening games this season. He was extremely understanding and all things considered agreed that it was the correct course of action.

Neither the Club nor Ground Safety team is looking to ban drums in either home or away areas for Saturday fixtures. We are simply considering the impact of noise carrying at evening matches that may potentially cause a nuisance to our near neighbours. An error was made in allowing the Cambridge fans drum entry at last Tuesday night’s match. As soon as this was realised the drum was removed at half-time.

We would like to thank all of the fans who have called the Club to discuss our actions in this respect. We trust anyone reading this will understand the decisions have been made taking all things into consideration.
