MORECAMBE have signed left back Joe Widdowson on loan.
The 25-year-old former Bury, Northampton, Grimsby and Rochdale player has joined the Shrimps as cover for Laurence Wilson who is set to miss the next nine weeks of the season with a ligament injury picked up at Cambridge last week.
It has been confirmed that Wilson has suffered a grade 2 Medial Knee Ligament injury that will leave him in a knee brace for the next four to five weeks.
Boss Jim Bentley said: "Joe was keen to come and he’s a good player, with a good attitude.
"He knows the level, has good experience and he ticks a lot of the boxes for what we wanted.”
“Laurence has been excellent since he’s returned to the club both on and off the pitch.
"We’re gutted about his injury, it’s a big blow for us and even more so himself.”
Widdowson said: “I know a few of the guys here and they speak very highly of the gaffer.
"I just want to get in and play some games, and hopefully contribute to the great start everyone here has already had.”
