Mullin scores four in the Shrimps' third win in three

PAUL Mullin was simply four-midable as the Shrimps picked up a third win of the pre season campaign with an excellent victory over Nantwich Town.

The young striker scored four first half goals with a clinical display of finishing to clinch victory against the Evo-Stik Premier Division side.

Although Mullin took the headlines it was Kevin Ellison who grabbed the opener with a goal after just six minutes.

Jamie Devitt maintained his fine pre season form with a clever ball into the middle which caused havoc in the Nantwich defence. As keeper Krystian Burzynski failed to take charge the ball fell neatly to Ellison who made the most of the gift by steering the ball into the empty net from 10 yards.

Nantwich hit back with Liam Shotton heading over from a good opening when he should have tested Barry Roche before the Shrimps added a second with Mullin being gifted a soft goal on 10 minutes.

Ellison’s initial shot was well saved by Burzynski but the visitors didn’t clear their lines and Mullin took full advantage with a neat finish from 12 yards.

Mullin was now at the forefront of almost every Morecambe move and scored his second on 21 minutes from the penalty spot after the livewire Ellison had been brought down by Josh Gordon's clumsy tackle.

Mullin was denied an early third by a fine Burzynski save and Ellison went close with a header before

Nantwich had a golden chance of pulling one back when Shotton latched on to a poor Andy Parrish backpass but took the ball too wide of Roche and failed to get in a shot on target.

Mullin sealed his hat-trick on 39 minutes with a superb lob over Burzynski from 20 yards and he added a fourth on the stroke of half-time. Ellison nodding down Andy Fleming’s cross for Mullin to round Burzynski and score his fourth.

Nantwich improved after the break and had the first opening of the second half but Steve Jones could only fire wide from 15 yards after a neat move.

Devitt, Alex Kenyon and Lee Molyneux all went close before the Shrimps scored a sixth seven minutes from time when Aaron Wildig scored from close range after good work from trialist Luke Pritchard to give the Shrimps another confidence boosting win.
