Scott Davies to face Wembley opponents Exeter in his first game back at the club

RETURNING keeper Scott Davies says it is “fate’’ that sees him face Wembley opponents Exeter in his first game back at the club.

Davies, now 27, was a member of the promotion winning team that beat the Grecians in 2007 and will line up against them on Sunday after joining on a month’s loan from Fleetwood as cover for the injured Barry Roche and Andreas Arestidou.

Davies said:  “You couldn’t write the script.”

“It’s obviously the one stand out memory I’ve got playing for Morecambe and the one the fans have got of me also.

“To come back to Morecambe and my first game be Exeter you’d think it’s written in the stars if you believe in things like that.

“In football it’s all about omens and I can only take that as a positive one.”

Shrimps youth product Davies says he is looking forward to playing some games after being number two to Chris Maxwell at Highbury sine the middle of last season.

He said: “I had a phone call off the gaffer telling me that Baz and Stav were struggling,” said Davies.

“It ticks all the boxes. I need a few games under my belt.

“For whatever reason at Fleetwood I’ve not been playing and I’ve been asked to come and help out for the month and I’m more than willing to do so.

“I know a lot of the staff here and still some of the lads and the fans also so it’s win, win for everyone I think.”
