The RT Honourable Sajid Javid has this morning visited Morecambe Football Club to see first-hand how a League 2 Club integrates with the business community in addition to their Saturday football responsibilities and the fantastic work done with Community projects. He was joined on a tour of the facilities by MFC Chairman Peter McGuigan, Vice-Chairman Nigel Adams, Board member David Brockbank, Manager Jim Bentley, Community Manager Janet Preston and local MP David Morris.

The visiting group saw thirty children from Lancaster Road school being put through their paces on the Club’s Gymstars programme attended by Community staff as well as first team players Barry Roche and Andreas Arestidou.

When questioned by the local media the Secretary of State said ‘what a fabulous job Morecambe Football Club are doing in working with the local community, it has been enlightening to hear about all of the programmes they deliver through their community system whilst also engaging with the local businesses to deliver first class conference and meeting facilities. I am very impressed with everything I have seen at Morecambe Football Club today and wish them all the very best in the future.’
