Shrimps Assess Tuton

27 February 2015

Jim Bentley takes a closer look at highly-rated young Buxton striker

BOSS Jim Bentley has been running the rule on promising Buxton striker Shaun Tuton this week.

The highly rated Evo-Stik Premier Division front man has 14 goals for his club far this season and caught the eye of a number of clubs.

He has spent the week training with the Shrimps’ first team and featured for the Reserves in their 2-1 win at Wrexham on Wednesday.

Tuton has also recently spent time training with League 2 rivals Carlisle.

Bentley said: “He’s attracted quite a lot of interest from the better non-league sides and one or two Football League clubs including ourselves.

“I have been monitoring him over the last six weeks or so and we’ve had an opportunity to take him in on trial and have a look at him close up and watch him in a reserve game.

“There’s no harm in it. There are one or two players who slip the net and end up in non-league football as we know.

“He might be one that might do something in the future and it might be with us.

“We’ll have to assess him as a person and a player and we’ll see what happens in the future.”
