Four second half goals earned the Shrimps a fourth successive League Two win.

After an even first half Phil Jevons gave the Shrimps the lead on 55 minutes after latching on to Craig Stanley's through-ball and from there the home side crumbled.

Laurence Wilson made it 2-0 on 64 minutes with a sweet finish and Stewart Drummond sealed the points on 79 minutes with a cool touch from a Stanley free kick.

The Shrimps capped off a fine second half with a fourth goal six minutes from time when Wayne Curtis took advantage of a horrendous error from Darlington keeper Nick Liversedge to roll the ball into the empty net. 

In the first half Darlington, who played far better than their league placing suggested, had probably the best chance of the half when Jeff Smith broke into the box and forced a good save from Barry Roche on 20 minutes.

Smith also went wide a minute later and also curled an effort wide on 39 minutes.

The Shrimps were restricted to long-range efforts with Stewart Drummond and Craig Stanley firing wide from the edge of the area before Garry Hunter volleyed a Michael Twiss cross past the far post.

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy made one change to the side that beat Cheltenham 1-0 at the weekend with midfielder Stewart Drummond recalled after his suspension to replace the injured Ian Craney.

Elsewhere there were changes on the bench with Danny Adams ruled out through illness and Darren Moss falling ill on the coach journey to the north east.
