The Shrimps found themselves a goal down after just seven minutes with midfielder Josh Labadies firing a 25 yard free kick past Barry Roche after Andy Parrish was penalised.

Morecambe hit back on 23 minutes with a fine move as Craig Stanley found Phil Jevons and his first time flick played in Stewart Drummond who beat Steve Phillips with a cool finish.

From there Paul Mullin headed a Laurence Wilson cross inches over and Jevons fired just wide as the Shrimps enjoyed the better of the half.

Shrewsbury's only reply was an effort from Jake Simpson shot from a Robinson cross that was drilled into the side netting.

The second half saw both sides push for the winner with Ian Craney sidefooting a Jevons lay-off inches wide of the right hand post and the midfielder denied by an excellent save by Stave Phillips who scrambled to his left to tip away a curling effort.

The game then saw two sendings off in three minutes as Morecambe went down to 10 men with Danny Adams shown a straight red card for a trip on Jake Robinson and then the visitors losing a man as well when goal hero Labadie turned villain when he tripped Craig Stanley for a second yellow card.

It was the visitors who had the best chance to win the game when former Preston striker Dave Hibbert blazed over from close range.

Craig Stanley returned for the Shrimps for the visit of a Shrewsbury side looking for their fifth successive win.
