THE SHRIMPS extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a battling draw at Blundell Park.

The Shrimps were made to fight all the way for the point against a Grimsby side who played some excellent football and forced Barry Roche into a strong of fine saves.

Roche waS by far the busier of the keepers and in the end he was only beaten by a superb strike from Peter Sweeney on 67 minutes to level Paul Mullin's 59th minute opener which came against the run of play.

The first half ended goal less with Grimsby by far the more threatening of the two sides.

Shrimps' keeper Barry Roche made two fine saves in the opening period from Jean Louis Akrpo's 20 yard drive and Peter Sweeney's excellent free kick.

Akrpo also fired wide after linking well with Michael Coulson.

Morecambe's only effort of note came from Paul Mullin who headed a Michael Twiss corner well wide. 

Sammy McIlroy sticks with the same side that beat Bournemouth 5-0 at Christie Park last week for this Friday night trip to Grimsby.

The Shrimps are looking for their eighth successive victory while new Grimsby boss Neil Woods is looking to seal his first win sincine taking over from Mike Newell.
