A goal from Paul Mullin five minutes from time gave the Shrimps a thrilling win over Burton Albion.

Mullin headed home a superb Laurence Wilson cross to seal a superb comeback from the Shrimps who were twice behind.

It was a fitting end to a superb game in what will probably be the Shrimps' last ever night match at Christie Park.

Burton had the lead at the break despite the Shrimps dominating the first half.

Morecambe had the better of the early pressure with Paul Mullin volleying over from close range and Dave Artell heading a Craig Stanley cross wide.

But Morecambe were shocked when Burton took the lead on 23 minutes when midfielder Jacques Maghoma was allowed to run on goal and his cracking left foot shot flew past Barry Roche.

Five minutes later the Shrimps were level when Stewart Drummond headed his ninth of the season past Arthur Krysiak from a dangerous Stanley corner.

Stanley then hit the crossbar and forced a decent save from Krysiak before Burton scored a shock second when the lively Sean Harrad beat Roche with a close range shot after running on to a long through-ball.

The Shrimps began their comeback in the second period with Phil Jevons scoring his 100th Football League goal on 72 minutes before Mullin popped up to clinch the game after Burton had also hit the crossbar twice.

Boss Sammy McIlroy made  one change to the side that beat Darlington 2-0 at Christie Park on Saturday.

Garry Hunter came in for Neil Wainwright who picked up a knock at the weekend.
