MORECAMBE went down to a heavy defeat in their play-off semi-final first leg.

The Shrimps shipped six goals as the Daggers tore them apart with striker Josh Scott scoring four and fellow front man Paul Benson adding a further two.

Benson made it 1-0 on four minutes when he scored from close range after Barry Roche had saved a close range Scott header.

Scott made it 2-0 on 35 minutes with a cool finish after Roche's poor clearance.

After a bright start to the second half the Shrimps conceded a further four as Benson struck three times with another Benson goal inbetween as Morecambe's mistakes were punished.
