MORECAMBE boss Sammy McIlroy has added four players to his squad tonight.

McIlroy has signed Ryan McCann from Queen of the South and Andy Parrish from Bury while two youngsters have also signed on with locals Matty Bell and Aaron Taylor completing one year deals after impressing in the club's Youth team last season.

McCann, 26, is a full-back who joins the Shrimps from Queen of the South where his last game was in the Scottish Cup Final in the narrow defeat against Rangers. McCann was at Queen of the South for only four months but it was an eventful period with the cup final appearance and a record-breaking 84-yard goal against Dundee.

Parrish, who was 20 on Sunday, joins form Bury after being surprisingly released by Alan Knill at the end of last season. The Bolton-born defender made more than 20 appearances for the Shakers last term and was a fans favourite after making his debut in 2005.

Bell and Taylor, both 18, are the latest graduates of the Shrimps' youth team to be given a chance to show McIlroy what they can do. Bell is a defender while Taylor is a striker who caught the eye last year with a great strike record in the Under 18s. Both players are members of the British Colleges side and both played in an excellent 4-1 victory over a Rhyl side containing former Shrimps Jimmy Kelly and Carl Ruffer last week. Taylor, whose father David also played for the Shrimps, scored all four goals.

Shrimps' boss Sammy McIlroy said he was delighted with the deals which take his summer tally to seven. He said: "The squad is shaping up nicely now and I am really happy to get Ryan and Andy on board as well as the young lads who have real potential. "It is not long until we return to training and I'm really looking forward to working with all the new lads."
