Like father, like son for Aaron

Posted on: Wed 02 Jul 2008
IT'S a case of like father, like son for new signing Aaron Taylor as he follows in his dad's footsteps of his dad Dave by joining the Morecambe first team squad.

The prolific 18-year-old goalscorer (pictured left) was only a baby when his dad, also a striker, was a member of the Shrimps' first team squad in the 1987-88 season.

David went on to play for Colne before spending five years at Netherfield where he had a spell under the management of Dave Edge, the current Morecambe physio.

His son Aaron has already appeared for the Shrimps, coming off the bench to score the fourth goal in the win over Lancaster City in the 2006-07 Lancashire Cup.
Dave, who tormented defences for a number of years when playing in the local North Lancs League, said: "I'm very proud of him, like I am with all my kids, and I hope he does well.

"He has my full support and I would love to see him progress this year.''
