Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy says Michael Twiss could well be making the switch to Bury.
Speaking after his side's 1-0 pre-season victory over Doncaster Rovers McIlroy said Twiss had been talking to the Shakers and believed a deal may be imminent.
He said: "I have a policy of always telling players if clubs are interested in them. I told Michael about Bury's interest and he seemed very keen. He lives two minutes away from Gigg Lane and I am sure that will be something that will interest him.
"He has been travelling up and down the motorway for five years now and that takes its toll on players I know. Michael had a difficult time of it last year and didn't play much football to be fair. At this stage of his career it is something that may give him a real lift and if he does sign for Bury we wish him all the best.
"He has been a great servant to Morecambe over the years but Bury would be ideal for him.''
