Shrimps' staff come to the rescue

Posted on: Wed 03 Sep 2008
The kind hearted Shrimps staff have been praised after coming to the rescue of injured Preston jogger Liz Bamber.

Liz, of Cottam, was training along Lancaster Canal ahead of a 5km run in aid of Royal Preston Hospital's Neurological Rehabilitation Unit, which treated her son following an accident, when she hobbled to a halt at Preston Sports Arena.

But luckily for her, Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy, who was preparing to train his Morecambe side, was on hand with physio David Edge to treat her torn calf muscle.

Liz, of Valentines Meadow, said: "I just felt my muscle go and couldn't walk. I went into the sports arena reception and Sammy McIlroy said his physio would give me some treatment.

"I didn't realise who he was at first but he was in his kit and was very helpful."

Said Sammy: "It's great we helped when it's for a good cause."
