Boss Sammy McIlroy is hoing Tuesday night's thrilling Johnstone's Paint win at Oldham will give his side the lift they need going into this weekend's tough League 2 clash with Shrewsbury.
Looking back as the dramatic penalty shoot-out win at Boundary Park he said: "We needed that.
"You could see a real difference in the lads after the game. We needed something positive and we got it on Tuesday as we kept our heads again in a shoot-out. All the way along I have said I could not have a go at any of the lads for their effort and commitment but there is no doubt that we have been making wrong decisions at crucial times.
"On Tuesday we certainly rode our luck a bit in the first half but I think it is about time we had a bit of good fortune and we were able to produce some excellent football in the second half. It was disappointing to lose Michael Howard and then Wayne Curtis with a head injury but Andy Parrish did well at left back and I thought Ryan McCann had a great game at right back.
"There were positives all over the park for me and I know that if we continue to play like that we will start picking up points quickly.''
