Skipper expecting tough game

Posted on: Thu 20 Nov 2008

Skipper Jim Bentley says he expects Exeter to be "lookig for revenge'' when the two sides meet on Saturday.

It's the first time the two sides have met since Morecambe won promotion to the Football League and Bentley believes the Grecians will be looking to make a point at Christie Park on Saturday.

Looking ahead to the game he said: "They may feel they owe us one as we beat them at Wembley in the play-off final - but we are ready for anyone now and fear non-one at the minute.

"We know they have some good players and I know their forwards will be looking to make it a difficult afternoon for me especially. But we have turned the corner in recent weeks and the new system really seems to be suiting us. We had a bit of a battle at Chester last week but we knew that would be the case and our lads stayed strong.

"There is a lot of competition for places and the spirit is great at the moment so we will certainly be ready for the game.''

Bentley said he was delighted to see that Fraser McLachlan suffered no long term damage after being injured by Kevin Ellison's late tackle last week. He said: "Fraser had a tough time last year when he broke his leg and we all feared the worst after the tackle on Saturday which is probably why some of the lads reacted the way they did to the tackle. But the damage was limited to bruising and I'm really pleased that he will be available on Saturday.

"We've still got a couple of injury worried but overall things are looking much brighter now and there is a real buzz about the place.''
