Lloyd allowed to leave

Posted on: Thu 08 Jan 2009

Morecambe have agreed a deal in principle with Paul Lloyd to pay up the remainder of the winger's contract.

Lloyd, 21, has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons and found it difficult to break into the first team squad as a result. His contract expired at the end of the season.

After progressing through the club's junior sides he made his mark in the semi-finals of the Conference play-offs against York, featuring in both games.

Manager Sammy McIlroy said: "Paul has been a good player to have around but he has really suffered from injuries. We are allowing him to leave now in an effort to try and set himself up with a club for next season.

"He is a great lad and we all wish him well for the future.''
