The Shrimps suffered a disappointing defeat at the Fraser Eagle Stadium tonight.
Sammy McIlroy's side were second best for long spells against a Stanley side who played far`better than their recent form suggested.
Morecambe keeper Barry Roche kept his side in the game in the first half with a string of fine saves but Stanley's pressure paid off in the second period when Jimmy Ryan's long range strike proved to be the decisive moment of the game.
Fraser McLachlan saw a late shot well saved by Kenny Arthur but it was a rare moment of threat from the Shrimps.
