The pre-season campaign began today with Mark Lillis saying he was delighted at the fitness levels of the squad who returned after the summer breaks.

Today was a quiet day compared to the ones to follow with the players picking up their training kits and getting weighed in before the fitness work starts in earnest on Friday.

All those returning came back at their target weights after following pre-season regimes set by fitness coach Danny Birdsall.

Commenting on the day assistant boss Lillis said: "I was really pleased with the lads because it is clear they have kept to their schedules. They all did what was expected of them and that means we can get off to a flying start when we begin the preparations in earnest.

"They all know that it is important to maintain a high level of fitness all year round now.''
