Morecambe FC make two major signings

Posted on: Wed 22 Jul 2009

Morecambe Football Club has announced two major new signings today (Wednesday) with Ian Craney and Phil Jevons joining on season-long loans from Huddersfield Town.

Craney, 28, a creative attacking midfielder, has been tracked by The Shrimps since before his time at Accrington Stanley and was the subject of a substantial bid last year before he was cherry-picked by the Terriers.

As well as being a driving force in the middle of the park he has chipped in with his fair share of goals during his career to date and has a fierce shot.

Jevons, 29, is a clever striker with an impressive goalscoring record which helped both Yeovil Town and Bristol City gain promotions to Division One and the Championship respectively. He was on loan with Bury during their play-off push at the end of last season.

Jevons hit a hat-trick in Town's recent pre-season friendly victory against Emley.

Morecambe FC Vice-Chairman, Graham Hodgson said, "We are absolutely delighted to have secured the services of two quality players who will bring both ability and experience to the squad. The Club have been working tirelessly over the summer to add quality to the squad and the two signings of today have certainly done that".
