DAVE Artell's first goal of the season earned Morecambe their second point of the campaign.
Ross Draper's first Football League goal just before the hour looked set to have earned Macclesfield their second win of the campaign before the Shrimps fought back with Artell heading home a late Laurence Wilson corner.
Macclesfield opened the scoring on 11 minutes after the Shrimps conceded their third penalty in successive games when Barry Roche brought down Colin Daniel with a poor challenge and Matthew Tipton sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot.
Shaun Brisley then came close before the Shrimps notched their first effort on goal when Phil Jevons wasted a gilt edged chance by heading over from three yards out.
Morecambe's best spell came towards the end of the half with Brain saving from Jevons and Ian Craney and Stewart Drummond inches away from connecting with Laurence Wilson's cross.
The Shrimps came back fighting in the second half with Michael Twiss scoring a superb equaliser, cutting inside from the right and curling a left footer into the top right hand corner of Brain's goal.
The Shrimps then dominated with Craney blazing over from 10 yards out and Brain saving desperately at his near post from Wilson's cross.
But the comeback was hit by a Macclesfield goal on the counter attack through Ross Draper on 57 minutes.
Jim Bentley returned to the Morecambe starting line up for the clash with Sammy McIlroy's former charges.
The skipper comes in for Neil Wainwright who drops to the bench as Darren Moss moves back to right back.
