THE Globe Arena is to host an England international later this year.
The Shrimps' new £12m stadium is to host the prestigious annual Victory Shield clash between England and Scotland Under 16s and will be screened live on Sky Sports on Thursday, December 2.
It is the highest ranking representative game ever to be held in Morecambe and will see many of the game's future stars in action.
Chief Executive Rod Taylor said he was delighted with the news.
He said: "This is a major accolade for the club and a huge boost for the new ground.
"It is another landmark for the club and shows how far we have come over the past few years.''
Mr Taylor said club secretary Neil Marsdin played a huge role in arranging the game saying: "Neil has worked tremendously hard to secure this game and we are very grateful for his efforts.''
Neil said former Liverpool and England goalkeeper Ray Clemence had played a major role in the fixture.
He said: "Ray Clemence, who is now the England goalkeeping coach, was told we were getting a new ground and put our name forward. It went on from there and I have been in talks with the FA for some time and I am delighted that we are going to get such a high profile game in Morecambe.''
A meeting is to take place shortly between the Shrimps, the FA and Sky, and more details will follow after that meeting.
