THE Shrimps return to pre-season training today with boss Sammy McIlroy looking forward to the forthcoming few weeks.
Although the boys are returning a few days after a lot of clubs because of their play off exploits last season the Shrimps' players have been working hard over the past few weeks with sessions arranged by physio Simon Farnworth and fitness coach Danny Birdsall.
Sammy said: "Simon has used the expertise he has gathered at Liverpool to give the lads a fitness programme through the summer to keep them ticking over. That means they will come back in good shape and also means we can get to use the ball quicker than we would do normally at this stage.
"I am looking forward to seeing the lads again and working with them. We have some cracking games lined up in pre-season and we have a few good tests ahead of us. We have a few trialists but I don't want to have too many because I want the lads we have to get as much game time as possible before the season starts.
"I know we need two or possibly three new faces but we will work on that over the next few weeks.''
