Danny started his career by playing for his home town club Altrincham before being signed by Sammy McIlroy, when he was manager of Macclesfield Town for a fee of £25,000, in September 2000.
He went on to make 169 appearances for the Silkmen, scoring 2 goals. Danny moved to Stockport County in March 2003, making 43 appearances before joining Huddersfield Town in March of 2005. During his 20 months at The Galpharm Stadium he made 77 appearances without scoring before being re-united with his former boss McIlroy in the Shrimps' promotion season, making his debut in a 3-1 win at Forest Green Rovers in February 2007.
He proved to be an excellent signing as his experience, tough tackling and often under recognised ball skills made him one of the club's most consistent performers at left back.
Was an integral member of the Shrimps' promotion side and maintained that form in the club's first Football League season, winning the club's player of the year awards.
Signed a new one year contract in the summer.
