CROWDS gathered to see some of their favourite soap stars in action at a charity football match in Morecambe at the weekend.
Around 2,500 turned out to bask in the glorious sunshine and enjoy the match at Christie Park on Sunday afternoon.
The match, organised by Heysham Power Stations in conjunction with CancerCare, was raising money towards CancerCare's Silver Jubilee appeal, which aims to raise £1.5 million towards a new facility at their Slynedales home.
The soap stars team - which included Coronation Street actors Ryan Thomas (who plays Jason Grimshaw) and Trevor Dwyer (who has also appeared in Casualty) - ran out 8-3 winners.
The team also included Hollyoaks stars Jamie Lomas (who plays Warren Fox), Nico Mirallegro (Newt) and Anthony Quinlan (Gilly Roach). Royle Family and Two Pints of Lager star Ralf Little also made the trip.
The event raised around £6,000 for CancerCare.
Martyn Butlin of Heysham Power Stations said: "It was a great day and we were delighted to see so many people come out on what was a busy day in Morecambe.
"The soap stars may have won the game, but the real winners were CancerCare, who raised much-needed money to carry on their good work.
"We'd particularly like to thank Morecambe FC, who gave all of their facilities and staff for free to make sure every penny raised on the day went to charity."
