This week's Citizen reports that Sammy McIlroy still wants to add to his Shrimps ahead of the big League 2 kick-off at Wycombe on Saturday.
The Morecambe manager has made major changes to his squad over a summer that gives new meaning to the word hectic - and still thinks there is room for improvement.
"Things may happen," he tells the Citizen.
"It's out of my hands at the minute but there is still time for things to happen either way.
"I am still trying to bring a couple in but to do that you have to balance the books and let people go.
"Some people have been here for a long time and every player here has played their part in where this football club has got to.
"But I want to improve things and part of that improvement is about that next level and being comfortable at that next level.
"Everyone will not agree with me and the decision that I make - but that's football. Folk don't always agree with Sir Alex Ferguson and he's not a bad manager so what chance do I have."
One man McIlroy fancies a longer look at is Simon Wiles, who played two half games for the Shrimps while on trial from Blackpool.
Adds the manager: "If his fitness is right I might bring him in. I am trying to get him on a short-term contract to see what he can do and see how he performs because he is a good player."
