WE continued our good little run at Chester on Saturday - and while it was never the best game people will see, I told all the lads after the game that it doesn't matter because the result says 2-1 to Morecambe.
It was always going to be a battle as it always is at Chester. But it was tougher because they had a new manager in the shape of Mark Wright.
That lifted their players but I think we were full value for the win - and as I say, it doesn't matter what the performance is like, it is the result that matters.
It was good to see Danny Carlton back in the Morecambe shirt and we don't know how long he will be with us. But it was a good dummy for the first goal and he won the penalty well.
Some people have said to me that the penalty was harsh - but the referee would have given a free-kick anywhere else on the pitch so it was the right decision to award the penalty.
It was a bad tempered end with Kevin Ellison and Danny Adams getting sent off.
Ellison went over the top on Fraser and it was a red card. It was strange though as they are mates from their Stockport days and they shook hands afterwards.
Because of the tackle Danny's sending-off was a little harsh.
Some referees would have told him to go away and calm down but this one decided to produce another yellow card and he had to go.
He had only been booked a few minutes earlier for time wasting - and that was harsh.
The referee had come to me and told me to tell the lads to stop time wasting at set pieces.
I don't think anyone was wasting time - but Chester had just pulled a goal back and I think a few of their fans got into the referee and that's why he booked Danny.
It is a shame for Danny - but it means that someone gets the chance to come in and take their chance. That is the nature of football.
On a personal note, I was surprised to get man of the match in a couple of papers on Saturday - but it was pleasing none the less.
I have played every game this season and when we won promotion I said to people that I wanted to make up for lost time because I had been in the Conference too long and every game in the League is one to savour. And that winning feeling makes it even better.
We are at home on Saturday to Exeter City and we are all looking forward to that. They may feel they owe us one as we beat them at Wembley in the play-off final - but we are ready for anyone now and fear no-one at the minute.
