We all want to improve

Posted on: Tue 25 Aug 2009

We are all disappointed with the start we have made to the season and know that we have to improve. I can assure everyone that all the players are feeling a bit low at the start we have made.

Things haven't quite gelled yet and we are working hard in training to put things right. The good thing though is that we have signed some players of real quality and they are all good characters who are fitting in well with the rest of the lads and we are sure that things will turn around.

We have some tough games coming up which will continue to test us but we did well against the top sides last year and we are looking to repeat that success this year. I really do believe we just need a win to get some confidence and as soon as we get one we will kick on.

On a personal note I am so glad to be involved again after such a frustrating pre-season with the shoulder injury. Against Burton I felt good considering that it was my first game and felt strong which is a testament to the fitness programme that Danny Birdsall had give me. But then I turned up for the coach to travel to Barnet and I woke up that morning feeling really ill. My young lad was ill and must have caught a virus from him and I just couldn't travel which is the last thing I needed after missing so many games. Thankfully I was OK for the game against Macclesfield and felt strong again. Unfortunately we started badly and gave an early goal away which is something we need to cut out quickly.

But we played some decent football as well with Twissy scoring a great goal and Dave Artell chipping in with an important equaliser which I think we deserved. The way we thought to the end showed that the spirit and determination is there and we will continue to give our all in search of that important first win.
