1963-64. Goalkeeper 302 (82 cup) apps. A highly respected goalkeeper Ken made almost 400 apps for the Shrimps between 1954 and 1964.
Born in Lancaster on May 25, 1936 Ken played for Greaves School and Lancaster Schoolboys at left half before switching to goalkeeper and playing for Lancaster Youth Club.
Another product of Morecambe's youth policy in the 50s Ken made his debut on March 27, 1954, at home to Darwen in a 4-4 draw.
He played 24 games in the 1954/55 season but only made 5 apps in 1955/56. A season later though he was the Shrimps' first choice stopper from 1956/57 until February 1963 and went on to win 2 league championship winner's medals and a Lancashire Junior Cup winner's medal in 1961/62. Although shorter than many goalkeepers he had great agility and many say he could have played in the league had he been a couple of inches taller.
His greatest moment came with a superb performance in the FA Cup victory over Chester City in 1961/62.
He made his last app for Morecambe was in a 4-0 win at home to Prescot Cables in December 1963 and moved to Lancaster City where he enjoyed three good years.
Ken was well known in local sporting circles as during the summer he was a wicketkeeper for Lancaster Cricket Club.
He died on July 11, 1986, aged 50.
