Jeff played for Morecambe Reserves in 1962-63 but moved to Lancaster City in December 1965. He returned to Morecambe in October 1966 but left again to join Chorley in October 1968 for a short spell before returning to Christie Park for a third spell. Was released by Morecambe in May 1972 and moved to Trimpell where he had a spell as player-manager before a period as Morecambe trainer between August and November 1984.

He managed Morecambe Reserves from February 1980 until the team was disbanded in October 1981. He then coached Lancaster Under 18s from 1990-92 before returning to manage Morecambe Youths in the North Lancs League and take over the Reserves again helping them win a string of league titles.
