Notes v Lincoln

Posted on: Fri 27 Nov 2009

Good afternoon and welcome to todays league fixture, a game which is pretty important to both clubs as we are languishing together at the wrong end of the league table.

I would like to give a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Lincoln City who have made the journey across to the West coast for what will be their last visit to Christie Park (barring an F.A. Cup clash).

This game of football is nothing if not a challenge. Sammy and Mark have put together a squad of players that most people around Christie Park would consider to be the strongest ever to put the shirt on and yet our results to date have been somewhat disappointing. I have mentioned in my notes on several occasions that at times like this it is essential for the "club" in its widest sense to behave like a "club" with everybody pulling in the same direction to produce the success that we all crave for. This is certainly not the time for finger pointing and blame but is a time for us all to roll up our sleeves and work even harder to achieve our goals.

From my own personal perspective I remain very confident that the remainder of the season will see an upturn in our results, which will result in us gradually moving in the right direction towards the top of the table and away from the bottom.

Away from league matters, you will all have seen the draw for the 1st Round of this year's F.A. Cup in which we have drawn Carlisle United away next Saturday. Obviously a tough tie but definitely one that is winnable or certainly drawable - particularly with our results so far this season! It would be fantastic to take a strong following to Brunton Park for this crucial fixture, which has implications for the club not only in terms of football and the competition itself but also in terms of the financial rewards a good cup run can bring. Believe me it is a huge game for us and the more support we have there the better our chances will be.

Finally can I ask for your help at the new ground? Within the stadium we will have a function suite and a public bar that will be open 7 days a week.We are looking for appropriate names for both these outlets and any ideas you may have would be much appreciated. Any ideas should be sent in the first instance to me at office@morecambefc.com. Your help with this issue will be much appreciated.

Enjoy the game.

Graham
