Sammy McIlroy said he was delighted with his team's work ethic in their excellent 1-1 draw with Wycombe on Saturday.,
McIlroy fielded five debutants in the side that picked up an excellent point at Adams Park and was more than happy with the contribution made by the new faces.
Said McIlroy: "I'm delighted because it was an excellent performance. Even when we were 1-0 down I thought we could get something from the game if we kept playing the way we where.
"We kept the ball better in the second half and scored a good equaliser and we could even have taken the three points if Michael Carr's shot had gone in. At the end of the day though to go to Wycombe on the opening day of the season and get a point was excellent.
"One of the plus points for me was the work ethic and commitment we showed all over the park. We had more possession than Wycombe did and perhaps the better chances as well and when you think that they are one of the favourites to be up there at the end of the season then we have to consider this an excellent result.''
