Assistant boss Mark Lillis says his side deserved more than they got after their JPT Trophy defeat at Macclesfield on Tuesday.
Lillis believed the Shrimps were the better side for long periods and had plenty of chances to win the game.
He said: "We made a few changes to give some of the lads a run out they needed and overall I thought they played really well for long periods.
"We had plenty of chances and came close on a number of occasions but we gave away a really soft goal which was disappointing. Macclesfield only had one real shot on goal and they scored from it and that has been the story of our season so far.
"We have got to start taking our chances when they come along and stop making mistakes at the back and if we do that we will start winning games. The strength of our squad is clear when you see the team we were able to put out for the game and that will be important as the season progresses.''
