Sol quits Magpies after Shrimps' victory

Posted on: Wed 23 Sep 2009

Sol Campbell has quit Notts County just one game into his five-year deal after realising he is 'not fit enough' for the demands of League Two football.

Sources close to the former England defender, whose contract at Premier League Portsmouth expired at the end of last season, have claimed that the 35-year-old has realised that he is carrying 'too much weight' and is 'not fit enough' to justify his high-profile place in the side.

Campbell made his high profile debut for the Magpies at Christie Park on Saturday.
